Annual Taxation Luncheon and Election of Officers
The WSBA Tax Section is pleased to announce that the keynote speaker will be Professor Roland Hjorth, Dean Emeritus and Garvey Schubert Barer Professor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law, whose speech is entitled: “Tax Policy After Fiscal Cliffs, Sequesters and Debt Ceilings.” For a number of years, Professor Hjorth has been teaching a class which examines the theoretical and policy considerations applied in assessing existing and proposed federal tax regimes, and considers their intended (and at times unintended) consequences arising with their application. His speech will focus on the effects of “tax expenditures” and how they often result in unscrutinized, but overlapping, subsidies.
