Rule 9 Task Force

Charter
Purpose
• Review the current rule and program.
• Provide input on current APR 9 and how the program works in practice.
• Draft a suggested new version of APR 9 to incorporate possible changes to the rule and program, including changes designed to ensure that APR 9 is consistent with current Criminal Rules.
• Solicit, receive, and provide input on the suggested new version of APR 9.
• After consideration of the input, draft a final version of a suggested new APR 9.
Timeline
• Submit a final version of a suggested new APR 9 for review and action by the Board of Governors by no later than the BOG's July 2009 meeting, and earlier if possible.
• Submit a BOG-approved version of a suggested new APR 9 to the Supreme Court before the first available GR 9 submission deadline after the suggested new APR 9 is approved by the BOG.
• The Task Force should provide quarterly updates to the BOG on its progress.
Members
This Task Force will be comprised of current governors and a number of others knowledgeable about the Rule and the corresponding program.
Appointments to the Task Force will be made by the President after consultation with the Board of Governors.
