Advisory Opinions
Nonlawyer authority to provide law-related services
Requesting Advisory Opinions
Advisory opinions are written Board opinions about the authority of nonlawyers to perform legal and law-related services. Advisory opinions can be requested by sending a written request to the Board Administrator by mail, fax or email. The board may decline to issue a requested opinion. The board will not issue an advisory opinion if the issue is currently involved in litigation or the subject of a complaint investigation. If the board issues an opinion, it may invite public comment or hold public hearings if necessary.
