Approximately 92,000 seniors in Washington live on incomes of less than $10,830 per year.

Your support of the WSBA Elder Law Section’s Peter Greenfield Senior Advocacy Summer Internship is making a difference for those seniors. Thank you.

As the size of Washington’s older population continues to grow, the need for continuing legal advocacy on behalf of vulnerable seniors only becomes more urgent. Peter Greenfield worked tirelessly on behalf of low-income seniors during his career with Columbia Legal Services (CLS). To honor Peter’s advocacy for vulnerable seniors and his active involvement in WSBA, we created a summer internship in Peter’s name and established a fund with the Washington State BarFoundation to sustain it.

Since establishing this fund, we have supported three summer interns – one from each of Washington’s three law schools. They spent their summers at CLS learning more about the broader themes of elder law while supporting the systems reform that was the hallmark of Peter Greenfield’s work.

We want more students to have this experience, and to consider a future in elder law. Please help support the Peter Greenfield Internship so we can keep this invaluable scholarship program going.

Your money has leverage. Gonzaga, Seattle University, and University of Washington have each matched our dollars to make this a $5,000 scholarship annually.

It’s easy to donate!

You may send a check payable to the Washington State Bar Foundation, Attn: Peter Greenfield Fund, 1325 4th Avenue, Suite 600, Seattle, WA 98101. To donate online, please log-in with your myWSBA account.

We are so proud of this tradition, and grateful for your continued support.
