How to Fill Out the Paper License Renewal Form

License Packets are mailed in mid October

Deadline: February 3, 2014

License Renewal Form

  • If you have not received your license packet by October 28, 2013, you may complete your renewal online by logging into mywsba or contact the WSBA Service Center to request another packet.
  • If you need a Large Print renewal form, please contact Amy Christensen at amyc@wsba.org or (206) 727-8243.

Contact Information

  • Verify your pre-printed contact information.
  • If you do not want your email address published in the online lawyer directory, mark the box underneath your email address.
  • If any contact information is no longer accurate, update your information, as required by APR 13, either online by logging in to mywsba or by calling or emailing the WSBA Service Center; do not make changes on the renewal form. 
  • Note: Your Home address/phone will be made public if it is the only official address on file.

MCLE Reporting Status

  • If this is not your year to report, this section will show you how many credits you have as of September 2013 when this information was pulled from our database.
  • If this is your year to report, it will read, "You are due to report this year. See the enclosed C2 form."
  • If you are exempt from reporting, it will read, "You are exempt."
  • Information about viewing or editing your MCLE roster can be found on the Online MCLE System webpage.

Voluntary Reporting of Pro Bono

  • In this section you may report the number of hours of pro bono publico service, as defined in RPC 6.1, that you provided in 2013.
  • Use the first row of boxes to report hours of free legal services provided to persons of limited means and/or to organizations that address needs of persons of limited means (RPC 6.1(a)).
  • Use the second row of boxes to report hours of other pro bono or reduced-fee services provided (RPC 6.1(b)).
  • Enter the total combined hours in the bottom row.
  • If you contributed 50 or more hours, you will receive commendation in NWLawyer and WSBA website unless you check the box stating that you prefer to remain anonymous.
  • You may complete the other portions of your renewal early and report your service hours online at the end of 2013.

License Fee Payment

  • Your 2014 License Fee and Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection Assessment (if applicable), are pre-printed at the top of page 2 on line A.
  • If you are paying after 2/3/14, add 30% license late fee on line 2. (See chart.)
  • If you want to take the optional Keller Deduction, enter the deduction on line C.
  • Add lines A - C and enter the Total Amount of Mandatory Licensing Fees on line D. 
  • Line E is an optional charitable donation to the Washington State Bar Foundation to help sustain WSBA's public service, diversity, and public legal education programs. To opt out or donate a different amount to the Bar Foundation, strike the $50 and enter a different amount.
  • Line F is an optional charitable donation to LAW Fund's Campaign for Equal Justice to support our state's poorest families and individuals. To opt out or donate a different amount to LAW Fund, strike the $50 and enter a different amount. 
  • Add lines D, E and F and enter the total payment on line G.
  • In the box underneath the Total, check one box to show your payment method (Check Enclosed or Credit Card).
  • Check Payments: Write your WSBA # on the check and mail with the completed License Renewal Form in the enclosed envelope.
  • Credit Card Payments: Fill out credit card information, name and billing address and mail the signed, completed License Renewal Form in the enclosed envelope.
  • Inactive and Emeritus members may check the box at the bottom of the License Fee Payment section for a free subscription to NWLawyer. Allow three months for the subscription to begin.

Professional Liability Insurance Disclosure

  • Pursuant to APR 26, this disclosure must be completed by ALL Active members even if you do not have liability insurance. Failure to comply may result in a Supreme Court order of suspension (Amended APR 17).
  • Mark one of the four boxes.
  • Sign, date and write the place signed at the bottom of page 2.

Trust Account Information

  • Pursuant to ELC 15.5, this section must be completed by ALL Active members regardless of whether you have a trust account. Failure to comply may result in a Supreme Court order of suspension (Amended APR 17).
  • Mark Yes or No.
  • If you answered Yes, fill out the Institution, Branch/City and IOLTA Account number(s).
  • Sign, date and write the place signed at the bottom of page 2.
  • If your firm is submitting a letter with the account information (Institution, Branch & IOLTA Account number(s)) along with the firm’s License Renewal Forms, “see enclosure” should be written in the account information space of the Trust Account section and you must still answer Yes or No to the question in this section.
