Equal Justice Coalition

Mission

 

To ensure people that are treated equally and fairly before the law by educating others about the importance of civil legal aid in our communities and advocating for sufficient public funding for civil legal aid for low-income people living in Washington state.

Accomplishments

  • Developed an effective broad-based nonpartisan network of equal justice supporters
  • Sent high level teams each year since 1996 to meet with Washington's Congressional delegation
  • Publishes an annual update of JAWS (Justice at Work), an educational binder
  • Publishes a quarterly newsletter, Justice at Work
  • Has been key to the success of state, federal and county initiatives to maintain/increase funding levels for legal services
  • Coordinated Summer of Justice, a four-month statewide educational initiative
