Volunteer application

Licensed legal professionals in the state of Washington are required to continue their legal education throughout their careers to remain eligible to practice law. The Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Board plays a critical role in defining and determining compliance with the minimum education requirements. The Board meets five times a year to consider MCLE policy issues and review requests from legal professionals, including requests for waiver and extension of time to meet their minimum education requirements, and holds hearings on denied requests.

Suggested Amendments to Admission and Practice Rule 11

The MCLE Board’s suggested amendments to APR 11 which include a new MCLE credit requirement in both mental health and technology security were submitted to the Washington Supreme Court together with the GR 9 cover memo. The court has published the proposed amendments here for comment. Comments can be submitted to the Clerk of the Supreme Court by either U.S. mail or Internet e-mail by no later than April 30, 2024. Comments may be sent to the following addresses: P.O. Box 40929, Olympia, Washington 98504-0929, or supreme@courts.wa.gov. Comments submitted by e-mail message must be limited to 1500 words.
