Governor Douglas C. Lawrence
8th District
Message from Doug Lawrence
I am very proud to have been elected to represent the lawyers of the 8th Congressional District on the Washington State Bar Association. The WSBA is here to serve and assist the lawyers of Washington. If you have any questions or suggestions concerning the WSBA and how it may better serve you and the legal community, I welcome your comments.
Many significant issues come before the Board of Governors during the year. Most are formally considered during the Board's regular meetings. I invite you to review the agenda for each meeting and let me know of any areas of specific interest or concern. The agendas are normally posted on the Board of Governors page in advance of the meetings. Here is the link: http://www.wsba.org/info/bog/default.htm. You will also find minutes of past meetings which will highlight the matters that were considered and the actions that were taken. I look forward to receiving your input.
Services for Our Members
The WSBA provides many services for its members. Most of you are probably familiar with the excellent CLE programs sponsored by the Bar, and with the Bar's deskbook series. These are excellent resources for keeping up to date and learning about the most recent developments in the law. The Bar also rolled out Casemaker for its members last year — a no cost research tool for case law, statutes, ethics opinions, court rules and more. If you haven't done so already, check it out! There is a link to Casemaker on the WSBA homepage at http://www.wsba.org.
For a listing of some of the other services the WSBA provides to our members, click on this link. If there are other specific benefits that you think WSBA should consider offering, just let me know so that we can consider them.
