Counsel — We're a closely held real estate company with operations in Seattle, Honolulu, and Colorado Springs. We believe the environments in which we all live and work affect our lives in deep and powerful ways. We actively innovate and seek out new and better ways to develop, manage, and finance real estate — to make a positive contribution to our customers' lives and to make the world a bit better place than we found it. We're seeking an attorney to join and become an integral part of our team. Because we focus on interesting and somewhat unique opportunities, we're looking for someone with a variety of experience in real estate, finance, contracts, and construction, including some trial experience. The right person for the job will be admitted to the bar in either Washington or Hawaii. The most important qualities we're looking for are those of character. You fit here if you're self-motivated, able to communicate clearly to co-workers and consultants, and deliver well-reasoned and cost-effective solutions in a timely manner while balancing multiple priorities. We value common sense, high-level problem solving skills, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to work as part of a dynamic team. We're looking for someone who isn't inspired or fulfilled by running in the typical legal rat race. This position is envisioned to start as part-time: 4–5 days and 25–30 hours per week. For some time, the position will be working closely with our partner who will be commencing a working retirement in 2010. Over some years, this position could grow to full-time. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered. We sometimes work with outside counsel. We're looking for someone who sees this as an opportunity and not a threat. In our organization, we all bring ideas to the table — but we check our egos at the door. Our goal is almost always how to best meet the needs of the organization and its client quickly, efficiently, and creatively. While Seattle is our home, some flexibility to travel is helpful. We do business in Honolulu and Colorado Springs, and we find that working remotely works better when we are sometimes there in person. Those trips tend to be short and intense. If you are proficient in Microsoft Office products; are open to new ideas and opportunities to accomplishing goals; are not afraid to voice your opinion and ask pertinent questions; enjoy working in a small, but highly active environment; and can work with confidential material and use discretion in disclosure to third parties, then we're looking forward to hearing from you! You have the opportunity to make an impact — help us build our business and deliver innovative projects to meet the needs of future consumers. Send us your résumé at TiredoftheLegalRatRace@gmail.com. Qualified applicants will be contacted to set up an interview.
