This position works with a team that upholds the mission of supporting Bar Leaders programs (sections, Washington Young Lawyers Division, committees, local, minority, and specialty bar associations), this position provides administrative technical support to the WSBA Bar Leaders Division with an emphasis on websites, list serves, and database maintenance, among other tasks.

This position requires an A.A. degree or equivalent experience with 3+ years of administrative experience supporting multiple staff, outstanding computer skills and technical aptitude; experience with database management, highly competent with website applications, software applications related to membership and financial data.  

Candidate must be exceptionally well organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple and competing demands; have demonstrated ability to anticipate next steps, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and work well independently and as a member of the team.  A high level of interpersonal skills to communicate with the public and members is required along with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The Diversity Program Manager is responsible for working to institutionalize and facilitate the WSBA's commitment to diversity as embodied in WSBA's Guiding Principles, which include a commitment to operate a well-managed association that will advance and promote diversity, equality, and cultural understanding throughout the legal community.  This position reports to the Director of Justice and Diversity Initiatives.  The Diversity Program Manager plays a primary role in the strategic development and programmatic direction of WSBA's efforts to enhance diversity in the legal profession through work with the WSBA leadership, the WSBA Board of Governors, and other organizations in the legal community.  This position will be responsible for recommending, planning, and executing diversity-specific events and programs in collaboration with and as directed by the WSBA Board of Governors, the WSBA Committee for Diversity and WSBA leadership.  The position provides liaison support to the WSBA Committee for Diversity.  A primary role of this position will be to facilitate relationships throughout the legal community to promote diversity in the legal profession.

Qualified candidates will have a law degree (JD) and previous experience working in an educational, governmental or nonprofit organization.  Experience working with volunteers is highly desirable. Well qualified candidates will have experience working in a position in a legal setting in which diversity concerns were the primary focus of the job; experience in public speaking; and experience writing articles and developing and delivering CLE level training.  This position requires a demonstrated ability to build relationships with and among various interest groups; competency with issues relating to inclusion, diversity and cross-cultural competency; the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, including with underrepresented and disenfranchised individuals and communities; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple and competing demands.  Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook) is required. Executive Assistant

The Executive Assistant provides assistance to the Executive Director (ED), Board of Governors (BOG), President, and President-Elect for agenda setting, scheduling, budget tracking/expense vouchering, calendaring, and meeting material preparation. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Washington State Bar Association.  This position independently manages the process of governor elections; maintains rosters and files; and coordinates meetings and correspondence.  The position serves as the recorder for the Board of Governors meetings which requires attendance at the meeting; recording relevant information; drafting, revising and distributing minutes for the Executive and Public Sessions. The position is also responsible for managing all meeting arrangements for Board meetings which involves contracting with sites, handling meeting logistics, communications, and travel arrangements for the Executive Director.  The Executive Assistant provides high level administrative support to the Executive Director.
 
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent and 5 or more years experience as an Executive Assistant to key management.  Previous experience in booking, contracting, making travel arrangements, managing an expenditure tracking process, and working directly with executive-level and/or board officials is required.  Experience working in a nonprofit organization is preferred.  Well qualified candidates will have intermediate-Advanced-level MS Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.  Other required skills include the ability to exercise considerable discretion; critical thinking skills; the ability to maintain positive executive-level interactions; diplomacy; tact; delivery of high level customer service;  oral and written communication skills; and skill in prioritizing while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Professional Responsibility Counsel

The major purpose of the Professional Responsibility Counsel (PRC) is management of the Bar Association's Professional Responsibility Program, which includes responsibility for providing guidance regarding ethical issues to Bar members, the Lawyer Services Department Director, and other WSBA staff, as well as acting as secretary to the Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC) Committee.  In addition, the PRC acts as liaison to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee, provides supervision of the Custodianship, Fee Arbitration and Mediation programs, and supervises inquiries regarding the location of Original Wills. The PRC offers consultation to Diversion Respondents when required by a Diversion Contract, and develops and participates in speaking engagements on topics of ethics and professional responsibility.  

This position requires a J.D. and be licensed to practice law in WA state;  practice experience in various legal fields and different legal settings (solo, small firm, large firm, government, etc.); public speaking or experience in delivering continuing legal education; a high level of oral and written communication skill; ability to listen and respond quickly to complex factual and legal questions; ability to represent the Bar in a positive way to the membership and the public; communicating via phone and computer are essential duties of this position.  Other requirements include comfort level handling high volume phone inquiries; fast paced assessment and problem solving abilities; crafting creative solutions around ambiguous situations; MS Office proficiency to generate varied documents, maintain data bases, and use the Internet.  Some travel is required.


Washington Young Lawyers Division Liaison

This position facilitates the operations of the Washington Young Lawyers Division (WYLD) with key stakeholders such as the WYLD Board of Trustees (BOT), WYLD committees, WYLD members, law schools, the WSBA Board of Governors, and the WSBA.   The primary responsibilities are to develop and implement YLD programs, strategies and outreach opportunities.  The person in this position shall work effectively with the BOT and WYLD president with planning and administrative responsibilities. 

This role has day to day responsibility for orchestrating the operational elements of planning and managing events, programs, meetings, publications, and BOT elections in addition to coordinating meeting materials, logistics, communications.  This role also serves as the point of contact for questions regarding the WYLD.  Primary responsibilities include advising stakeholders of applicable resources; coordinating volunteers and related projects/deadlines; successfully utilizing marketing and public relations principles across all communication channels; juggling multiple projects with competing and conflicting deadlines; and representing the Bar in a positive way to all audiences.  This role also includes budget management responsibilities. 

This  position requires a Bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in similar settings (i.e. project management, event planning, planning and development, managing volunteers programs); excellent computer proficiency/literacy skills; a strong, proactive approach to customer service, involvement of others, and building relationships; strong experience centered around strategic planning and organizing; outstanding oral and written communication skills necessary to compose, proof and publish related materials; and exceptional organizational skills with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities.  Experience working with volunteers in non-profit settings and/or experience in the legal field is also preferred.
