WLI 2006 Community Service Project - Workshop ModuleWhat Would You Do If You Knew You Couldn't Fail? Five Washington Leaders Discuss Their Paths to Success As their community service project, the 2006 Leadership Institute fellows have chosen to invest in empowering the diversity "pipeline" by reaching out to middle and high school students of diverse backgrounds who will constitute tomorrow's professionals and leaders. The fellows developed and produced a workshop module that each fellow will present with our partnering organizations, and is available for community use. The module focuses on overcoming obstacles using a lesson plan interwoven with video clips in English with Spanish subtitles, featuring five inspirational and successful individuals from diverse backgrounds and professions. For the purpose of long-term project sustainability and perpetuation beyond the initial outreach by the fellows, the enclosed links allow downloading and distribution of the workshop module materials, free of charge. In the alternative, please consider serving as a volunteer speaker with one of our partnering organizations. Each was chosen for their mission to support diverse youth to achieve their dreams and promote academic achievement for high school graduation and higher education. Finally, we appreciate the contributions of the diversity sponsors, supporters, and those who have helped create this valuable tool for community group use. These contributions helped accomplish the project's goal to inspire our youth to aim high and achieve their full potential. For more information, or to obtain free copies of these materials, please contact Naomi Stacy at naomistacy@msn.com or (360) 584-8897. Thank you for your interest in the 2006 WLI Community Service Project. |
