Notice of Special Meeting - Proposed Amendments to Section Bylaws
July 25, 2008 

The Dispute Resolution Section will hold a special meeting of the membership at noon on Friday, July 25, 2008, at the offices of the WSBA. The section's officers and council have recently approved proposed amendments to the bylaws which also require approval by a majority of voting section members present at the special meeting. One of the proposed changes is to rename the section the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. Click here for a working version of the bylaws with the proposed amendments. About the Dispute Resolution Section

The Dispute Resolution Section includes attorney members and non-attorneys, the latter identified as "subscribers." A common member interest is the availability and use of dispute resolution for the productive outcome of all types of discord - large or small, simple or complex, from the neighborhood grievance to the international crisis.

The activities of the Section are managed by an Executive Council.  Meetings of the Executive Council may be attended by any member or subscriber and provide an opportunity to influence Section activities and interact with DR professionals.

The Section sponsors CLEs and other educational programs about DR (including the Annual Northwest DR Conference in sponsorship with the University of Washington School of Law), participates in legislative and court rule-making activities that relate to DR, and undertakes projects aimed at increasing the availability and quality of DR services throughout the state.

The Section maintains an independent website which includes the DR Provider Directory, an online listing of DR providers throughout the state. A very useful resource which provides information when needed not only to professionals, but also to their potential clients, the directory can be searched by:

• Geographic location,
• Area of practice,
