Free CLE for ELUL Section Members
The WSBA International Practice Section and the Environmental and Land Use Section cordially invite you to attend the presentation about international water law on May 28, 2009, from noon to 1:30 p.m., with speaker Daniel Seligman, attorney-at-law in Seattle, who will discuss a recent study, "World's Major Rivers: An Introduction to International Water Law with Case Studies," published by the Colorado River Commission of Nevada.

Michael O'Connell Appointed as the new ELUL Section Newsletter Editor!
We are pleased to announce that the Executive Committee of the Environmental and Land Use Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association has selected Michael O’Connell of Stoel Rives, LLP to serve as the new editor for our Section’s newsletter. Michael has served on the ELUL Newsletter Editorial Board for the last several years and has been an active contributor of articles and case laws updates. Michael focuses on project development, including renewable energy projects, water right acquisitions, Clean Water Act permits and certifications, cultural and fossil resources, and business transactions with Indian tribes. Prior to joining Stoel Rives in 1992, Michael served as General Counsel to the Hopi Tribe in Arizona and in the Office of Reservation Attorney for the Quinault Indian Nation and Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. Please join us in welcoming Michael in his new role as the editor of our newsletter.

ABA SEER Calls for Nominees for the 2009 Environmental, Energy, and Resource Stewardship Excellence Award
It's that time of year again! The ABA Section of Environment, Energy and Resources is seeking nominees for its 2009 Excellence Award. The award was established to recognize individuals, organizations or groups that have distinguished themselves in the area of environmental, energy and/or resource stewardship.
