"Copyrighting Impressions of Nature: A Discussion About Lucky v. Sears Roebuck & Co., 258 F. Supp. 2d 1106 (W.D. Wash. 2007)"

Copyright protection extends to an author's impressions of nature as recorded in any tangible medium, but enforcement can be tricky. Learn the basics of originality as it applies to works based on nature and how to avoid common pitfalls in enforcement, including the doctrines of scenes a faire and merger.

  • Friday, October 3, 2008 - "The Eastern Washington Intellectual Property Institute." Co-sponsored by the WSBA Intellectual Property Section in association with the Washington State Patent Law Association. Approved for 7.0 credits (up to 6.5 general and .5 ethics) (.75 general CLE credit for featured luncheon speaker).
  • Thursday, September 11, 2008 - "Intellectual Property for the Non-IP Attorney." 6.5 credits (5.5 general and 1.0 ethics).
  • Friday, March 7, 2008 - "The 13th Annual Intellectual Property Institute." 6.25 CLE credits (5.5 general and .75 ethics).
