WSBA Judicial Recommendation CommitteeThis committee screens and interviews candidates for state appellate and Supreme Court positions and makes recommendations thereon to the Board of Governors.
2007-08 Schedule The WSBA Judicial Recommendation Committee (JRC) is currently accepting questionnaires from attorneys and judges seeking consideration for appointment to fill potential Washington State Supreme Court and Court of Appeals vacancies. Interested individuals will be interviewed by the JRC on the dates listed below, and applications are due to the WSBA office by 5 pm on the dates indicated. The JRC's recommendations are reviewed by the WSBA Board of Governors and referred to Governor Gregoire for consideration when making judicial appointments. The committee will hold meetings on the following dates, where candidates will be interviewed. October 15, 2007 – Questionnaires are due September 3, 2007 January 10, 2008 – Questionnaires are due November 29, 2007 March 13, 2008 – Questionnaires are due January 31, 2008 June 12, 2008 – Questionnaires are due May 1, 2008 Please note that the WSBA does not forward Uniform Judicial Evaluation Questionnaires to the Governor's Office; should there be a vacancy candidates are interested in being considered for, candidates must apply directly with the Governor's Office. Judicial candidates are encouraged to visit the governor's website to learn more about judicial appointments. Many county, minority, and specialty bar associations also evaluate judicial candidates. |
