Licensing & Mandatory Continuing Legal Education RequirementsReporting AttendanceImportant It is the responsibility of the sponsors of an event to report attorney attendance and credits for all approved CLE courses, except self-study courses. At the July 20, 2007 Board meeting, the MCLE Board approved a new attendance certification form to be used by all sponsors. Per APR 11.6(a)(1), these forms are to be distributed to all Washington State attendees at each live, in-person CLE program. Attendees are to fill them out and return them to sponsors only if they do NOT attend the entire program (e.g. by coming late, leaving early, being caught on lengthy phone calls, etc.) to help sponsors report the attendance of each attorney accurately.
It is the responsibility of individual attorneys to inform the sponsor of their attendance at live seminars, so the sponsor can submit an accurate report. Sponsors must report attorney attendance within 30 days after completion of an accredited CLE activity. Reporting Format To register as a sponsor, apply for course approval, and to report attendance, follow the instructions at http://pro.wsba.org/. The Form 1 Application for Course Approval may be filled out by sponsors online, after they register. The $50 course approval application fee must be paid by credit card (Visa or MasterCard, other credit cards are not accepted) in the online system in order for the course application to be sent. Important:
Reporting—Alternative A sponsor who is unable to use the online system (and who is not an Accredited Sponsor) may send the attendance list by surface mail to MCLE Attendance Reporting, Washington State Bar Association, 1325 Fourth Avenue, Suite 600, Seattle, WA 98101-2539. The information provided with the list must include
Due to processing costs, there is a $3 charge per attorney name for this type of report, to be paid by check. The check must be attached to the attendance list or the list will be returned for payment. Please note that as an alternative to submitting the attendance list by surface mail, the list may be uploaded in bulk from a properly formatted spreadsheet, saved as a tab-delimited file.
