WYLD Annual Award Nominations SoughtThe Washington Young Lawyers Division (WYLD) is accepting nominations for the Thomas Neville Pro Bono Award, Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award, and Professionalism Award. Nominations are also being accepted for the Outstanding YLD Affiliate Organization Award for recognition of public-service and/or member-service programs. Where: El Centro de la Raza - Salvador Allende Room 106 The Latina/o Bar Association of Washington, in partnership with the Law Offices of Schroeter Goldmark & Bender, invite you to be a volunteer at an upcoming Free Legal Clinic for the Latina/o Community at El Centro de la Raza on the above-listed date. This clinic occurs every second Wednesday of the month unless there is a holiday. Please complete and return a volunteer application if you are interested in volunteering. Learn About the Electoral Process and How You Can Get Involved!The WYLD Membership Committee will be hosting a three-part series on opportunities for young lawyers to get involved in the electoral process. Part 2 will focus on litigation of election law issues, governing statutes, and election and voter protection process/programs; and part 3 will focus on how young lawyers can run for public office. Part 2 will be held September 25 at the WSBA office. Please check back for more details. This seminar is pending CLE credit. The WYLD is hosting this event solely for educational purposes; this event is not connected with any political campaign. Your Opportunity for a Free Section Membership!Initiated by the Washington Young Lawyers Division in 2002-2003 in response to the WSBA's long-range goal to support the professional development of new lawyers, WSBA new admittees are offered one free year of membership to one section based on the date admitted to the Bar and in relationship to the current section membership year. Individuals admitted to the Bar between June and December 2007 may take advantage of free membership in one section for the current section membership year of October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008. About the WYLDThe WYLD provides programs and services of special interest to young lawyers, to the public and to those denied access to the justice system. In particular, the WYLD:
Any active member of the Association shall be a member of the Division until the 31st day of December of the year in which such member attains the age of thirty-six (36) years or until the 31st day of December of the fifth (5th) year in which any such member has been admitted to practice in any state, whichever is later.
