Change to Clerk’s Office Filing Procedures

Beginning July 1, 2000, termination cases will be given a separate cause number when a Petition for Termination of a Parent-Child Relationship is filed with the King County Superior Court Clerk’s Office. The case assignment area (Seattle or Kent) will be the same as that of the association dependency case. The clerk will automatically link the termination petition to a dependency case, if one exists, so that both legal files will be available to the court if either case is later scheduled for a hearing. Pursuant to statute, no fee will be charged for filing these actions.
