Northwest Regional Juvenile Defender Center Seeks Volunteers

The ABA Juvenile Justice Center, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Soros Foundation have recently provided funding for eight regional juvenile defender centers in the country. Each center is to respond to the needs of juvenile defenders within that region, while promoting the highest quality representation for children. The Defender Association in Seattle is spearheading this effort for the Northwest.

The Northwest Regional Juvenile Defender Center (NRJDC) is seeking volunteers to serve on an advisory board, participate in a survey, and participate in interactive discussions. NRJDC, in conjunction with Seattle University School of Law, will host a training conference September 21-23, 2000 focusing on education, immigration, competency, capacity and representation of juveniles in the adult system.
