Washington State Bar Association Honors 50-Year Members
Seattle, Washington, October 5, 2000 — The Washington State Bar Association proudly congratulates its members who are celebrating 50 years of service to the public. Lawyers admitted in 1950 were officially recognized at a luncheon held in their honor last month in Spokane.
WSBA President Richard Eymann presented the 50-year members with certificates of appreciation for their service. He recounted important events of 1950 and talked about changes in the practice of law over the past 50 years. Honorees and their families enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship — many had not seen each other since law school and were eager to reunite. Moses Lake lawyer Harrison Dano, celebrating 59 years of membership in the Bar, was a special guest at the luncheon.
The Washington State Bar Association is a private, nonprofit organization authorized by the Washington State Supreme Court to license the state's 26,000 lawyers. The WSBA both regulates lawyers under the authority of the Court and serves its members as a professional association — all without public funding. As a regulatory agency, it administers the bar exam, provides record-keeping and licensing functions, and administers the lawyer discipline program. As a professional association, the WSBA provides continuing legal education for attorneys, in addition to numerous other educational and member-service activities.
