Judge Dale M. Green Honored as 50-Year Member of Washington State Bar Association

Seattle, Washington, December 21, 2000 — The Honorable Dale M. Green was honored this month for 50 years of membership in the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). WSBA Governor Victoria Vreeland, who, in 1976, was Judge Green's first female law clerk, presented him with a certificate of honor in a ceremony held at the Court of Appeals in Spokane.

Judge Green was one of the original judges appointed by Governor Dan Evans to the newly created Court of Appeals in August 1969. Retired from the court in 1991, he continues to serve as a pro tem judge.

Governor Vreeland noted that, "Judge Green's work as a lawyer and jurist not only affected thousands of litigants, but positively influenced the personal and professional lives of dozens of lawyers." Joined by many of his former law clerks; the current judges of Division III of the Court of Appeals; retired judges; and his wife, Peggy, Judge Green was applauded for his leadership and exceptional contributions to the bench and bar during his 50 years of WSBA membership.

The Washington State Bar Association is a private, nonprofit organization authorized by the Washington State Supreme Court to license the state's 26,000 lawyers. The WSBA both regulates lawyers under the authority of the Court and serves its members as a professional association — all without public funding. As a regulatory agency, it administers the bar exam, provides record-keeping and licensing functions, and administers the lawyer discipline program. As a professional association, the WSBA provides continuing legal education for attorneys, in addition to numerous other educational and member-service activities.
