The Mission of the Council on Public Legal Education is to promote public understanding of the law and civic rights and responsibilities. The CPLE pursues this mission by conducting, coordinating, encouraging and publicizing public legal education efforts in Washington state. The CPLE is a committee of the Washington State Bar Association.

The CPLE co-sponsored a Civics Education Forum at the State Capitol on Law Day (May 1st). Watch Justice Sandra Day O'Connor talk about the importance of Civics education with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show and Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America.
