Resources for Teachers

The Council on Public Legal Education wants to assist teachers interested in doing more democratic citizenship education in their classrooms. "Democratic citizenship education" includes civics, law-related education, and any other effort to develop students into active, informed, empowered citizens and participants in the justice system.

Workshops

The CPLE frequently offers professional development workshops at conferences offered by the Washington State Council for the Social Studies. For more information, see their website at http://www.wscss.org/.

Civics and Law-Related Web Sites for Teachers

The CPLE has compiled a list of web sites that include lesson plans, programs for requesting guest speakers, background information on current and events and other useful resources for K-12 teachers. Please send us others you know of so we can make this list as comprehensive as possible.

Law-Related Web Sites for Students

The CPLE has compiled a list of web sites for students interested in pursuing the law as a career that offer information about preparing for and applying to law school, as well as related topics.
