Judicial Recommendation Committee

The WSBA Judicial Recommendation Committee screens and interviews candidates for state Court of Appeals and Supreme Court positions. Recommendations are reviewed by the WSBA Board of Governors and referred to the governor for consideration when making judicial appointments.

Schedule

The Judicial Recommendation Committee will interview candidates on the following dates. Please note the due-date for materials.

  • May 14, 2013* - materials deadline is April 15, 2013
  • September 19, 2013 - materials deadline is August 9, 2013

*Previously scheduled for June 21, this meeting was rescheduled to accommodate members applying for the upcoming opening on the Court of Appeals in Division II, District 1. Note that the WSBA's materials deadline is earlier than the Office of the Governor's deadline of April 26.

Please note that the WSBA does not forward Uniform Judicial Evaluation Questionnaires to the Governor's Office; should there be a vacancy candidates are interested in being considered for, candidates must apply directly with the Governor's Office.

Judicial candidates are encouraged to visit the governor's website to learn more about judicial appointments. Many county, minority, and specialty bar associations also evaluate judicial candidates.
