Immigration Enforcement: When Jurisdictions Collide

"Can they do that?” Legal professionals are getting questions—or perhaps they are even wondering themselves—as federal immigration authorities have become more visible, frequent, and forceful presences in local communities. This one-hour virtual lunch-and-learn session will focus on immigration enforcement and overlapping legal jurisdictions. Our panel of experts will discuss the interplay between federal, state, and local laws, and where conflicts are likely to arise and how they are likely to be resolved. The panel will consider questions such as: How are law-enforcement officers prepared to interact with ICE agents? What happens when Washington passes “sanctuary” laws or other limitations on federal immigration actions? Do ICE agents have total immunity? Come find out—and if you have questions for the panel, please send them ahead of time to ambassadors@wsba.org. We want to make sure our short time together is jam-packed with the information you need!
