Health Law Section

WSBA's Health Law Section facilitates learning and relationship development to support the practice of health law attorneys. The section is a valuable and trusted resource for:

  • Providing regular educational opportunities, including CLE seminars and notices of important developments in health law
  • Contributing to valuable relationships among health law practitioners and opportunities to develop health law practices
  • Providing general information relating to healthcare law.

In accordance with the section's bylaws, and with the exception of law students, an individual must be an active member of the Bar.

The following section executive committee positions are open for applications:

  • Chair: one-year position beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and ending Sept. 30, 2022.
  • First Vice Chair: one-year position beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and ending Sept. 30, 2022.
  • Second Vice Chair: one-year position beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and ending Sept. 30, 2022.
  • Secretary: one-year position beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and ending Sept. 30, 2022.
  • Treasurer: one-year position beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and ending Sept. 30, 2022.
  • At-Large Member (three positions open): one-year position beginning Oct. 1, 2021, and ending Sept. 30, 2022.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be a current section member and should be eligible to vote in accordance with the section’s bylaws.

Application Process: Click here to complete the online application for open executive committee positions. The Section has requested that each applicant submit a statement of interest with your application. This document can be uploaded with your online application (PDF format only). Please be advised that application materials may be posted on this website for public viewing.

Nomination Process: The nominating committee shall consist of the Immediate Past Chair, the current Chair, the 1st Vice Chair, and at least one Voting Member, chosen by the executive committee, who is not a current member of the executive committee. All applicants will apply through an electronic application process administered by the Association.  The nominating committee shall nominate one or more members of the Section for each of the officers and At-Large positions.  The individual(s) nominated for Chair by the nominating committee shall have previously held an officer or At-Large position in the Section unless the nominating committee unanimously waives this requirement. 

Alternate Nomination Process: All eligible applicants/nominees will be placed on ballot as candidates, even if not recommended by the section’s nominating committee. A section member may self-nominate or be nominated by someone else during a meeting (remote meetings allowed for COVID-19 compliance) within the nomination timeline. The Nominating Committee will inform the nominee of consideration.

Elections Process: All voting members of the section will receive an electronic ballot sent to their email in June 2021. Visit this webpage in early June for election updates and voting instructions.
