In light of Gov. Inslee's "Stay Home-Stay Healthy" order issued March 23, we strongly recommend that you complete your license renewals and status changes online if possible. Our staff is working remotely and there will be some delay in processing anything sent by mail. Please submit all queries via email.

The deadline by which the WSBA will be submitting suspension recommendations to the Supreme Court for failure to complete license renewal requirements was extended to June 30, 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. If all requirements are not complete by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 30, the Supreme Court will enter an order suspending you from the practice of law pursuant to the Washington Supreme Court’s Admission and Practice Rule 17.

Steps to Renew

For all licensed legal professionals:

  • Pay license fee.
  • May join or renew WSBA Sections.

Additional steps for Active licensed legal professionals:

  • Pay Client Protection Fund assessment (only Lawyers and LLLTs).
  • File trust account information.
  • File professional liability insurance or financial responsibility.
  • Certify MCLE compliance in your reporting year.


Dec. 31, 2019: Active licensed legal professionals in the 2017-2019 reporting period must complete required MCLE credits.

Feb. 3, 2020: License renewal, payment and MCLE certification must be completed online, postmarked or delivered to WSBA.

Active Lawyer — Admitted to ANY bar prior to 2018: $458 + $30

Active Lawyer — Admitted to ANY bar in 2018 or 2019: $229 + $30

Active LLLT — Admitted prior to 2018: $200 + $30

Active LLLT — Admitted in 2018 or 2019: $100 + $30

Active LPO — Admitted prior to 2018: $200

Active LPO — Admitted in 2018 or 2019: $100

Inactive/Emeritus Pro Bono Lawyer — $200

Inactive LLLT or LPO — $100 

Judicial: $50

Replacement Renewal Packet

If you did not sign up for paperless renewal and have not received your packet by mid-November, you may complete your entire renewal online or contact the WSBA Service Center to request a replacement packet.
