WSBA Statement about Siege of the U.S. Capitol Building
The Washington State Bar Association’s mission is to ensure the integrity of the legal profession and champion justice. As legal professionals, we take an oath to support the Constitution of the United States and abide by the laws of the United States—and what we are witnessing today as a nation at the Capitol Building defies fundamental democratic principles built on that rule of law. As WSBA leaders, we strongly condemn the use of violence to disrupt the constitutionally required Congressional certification of the Electoral College vote. We strongly condemn acts of violence meant to undermine confidence in our principles of law and justice. We at the Washington State Bar Association will continue to support our legal community to safeguard the rule of law and hold accountable those who undermine the bedrock of our society.
