July Bar Exam Cancelled
The venue, Yakima Convention & Event Center, has released its own statement addressing the cause of the July 28 disruption. We refer specific technical questions directly to the venue.
WSBA did not have sufficient confidence that the technology issue had been resolved to safely resume the exam on July 29 and made the decision to cancel the July 2026 administration. We sincerely apologize to the candidates who worked so hard to prepare, and we deeply regret that we could not deliver a successful exam experience.
A make-up exam is scheduled for Sept. 1–2, 2026, in Tacoma, WA. Affected applicants are also being offered the option to transfer to the February 2027 exam or receive a full refund. Applicants who wish to transfer or withdraw should notify the WSBA by emailing admissions@wsba.org by Aug. 14, 2026. All applicants testing with approved accommodations were able to proceed with their exams as scheduled and were not impacted. All registered applicants have been notified by email and through the online admissions portal. We will continue working closely with the Washington Supreme Court to consider any additional next steps.
Applicants can find answers to common questions on our FAQ page, which will be available and updated at admissions.wsba.org/faq. As always, please contact us with any questions at admissions@wsba.org.
