Heather Webb Receives Washington State Bar Association Local Hero Award | June 26, 2020

Updated: March 17, 2021

SEATTLE (June 26, 2020) — The Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) has named Heather Webb as the most recent recipient of the Local Hero Award for her leadership and diligent volunteering to help the local legal community and the public it serves.

The Local Hero Award is given to those who have made noteworthy contributions to their communities. WSBA President Rajeev Majumdar presented the award during the Board of Governors virtual meeting on Friday, June 26. Webb was nominated by the Skagit County Bar Association.

A shareholder with the firm GLP Attorneys, P.S. and president of the Skagit County Bar Association, Webb is known for her efforts to understand clients’ stories and convey them in her representation and advocacy.

“Heather is an outstanding mentor and supporter of young attorneys in the firm and readily shares of her time and knowledge with others,” the Skagit County Bar Association (SCBA) Executive Committee wrote of Webb. “... She is highly admired both for her legal skills as well as her compassion and devotion to both her clients and her community.

Webb is both a leader and legal evangelist who has helped highlight others who make significant contributions to the legal community. Within the SCBA, Webb has been integral toward fulfilling its mission as a member-driven and responsive organization, successfully opening the annual Law Day luncheon as a dinner event with the larger community and inviting high school teachers and students to attend. Webb frequently invests her energy, time, organizational skills, and enthusiasm to make SCBA successful so the organization can continue to be responsive to the needs of local attorneys and the legal needs of the local community.

With a 30-year career in the legal profession, Webb began as a paralegal before pursuing an alternative to law school as a Rule 6 Law Clerk through the WSBA while she worked at GLP. A licensed attorney with GLP since 2007, she now leads its Burlington, Bellingham, and Wenatchee offices and practices in Skagit, Whatcom, Island, Chelan, Douglas, San Juan, and Okanogan Counties. With a degree in Spanish from the University of Washington, Webb also assists with representing GLP’s Spanish-speaking clients from across the state.

Webb became a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum in 2017 and has been a member of the Washington State Association for Justice, Whatcom County Bar Association, and Washington Women Lawyers. She is chair of the SCBA CLE Committee and a member of the SCBA Volunteer Lawyer Program Committee.
